Wireless Cameras
In June of 2004, Target Corporation financed the first of 30 wireless cameras in the Downtown SafeZone. Target Corporation not only donated $300,000 toward the purchase of the cameras, but it also used its buying power to purchase the cameras at a corporate rate.

Restorative Justice
On April 1, 2006 the Downtown SafeZone Collaborative began a new initiative with Restorative Justice Community Action. Partnering with Restorative Justice Community Action (RJCA) and the Minneapolis City Attorney's Office, SafeZone is thrilled to be bringing Restorative Justice to Downtown Minneapolis. SafeZone participates with a police diversion program where officers give a direct referral for the program, so that individuals can participate with Restorative Justice immediately.

Joint Beat's
In April of 2005, Joint SafeZone Beats between law enforcement and private security began. They are meant to increase a uniformed law enforcement presence onthe streets, as well as increase communication between private security and law enforcement. These patrols take place daily from 12:00pm to 3:00am, with the amount of patrols varying depending on the day.

Friends of the Mounted Patrol
The Minneapolis Police Department Mounted Patrol Unit is one of the Department's most visible units. Created in 1996 with two riders and three police horses, today the unit has eight horses with twenty fully trained, sworn officers.
